BCL NEWS W09/20

Leagues are starting

The SCQ EU PS4 T5 & T8 are starting next weekend 6th March 2020.

The ladders have been running for quite a while already. The registration for leagues have also been open. We are requiring Ladder matches to be eligible to attend the Leagues. The idea behind all this is to get a grip of the level each team is playing. Also it’s important to see the teams are actually alive and playing to  minimise the hassle caused by dropouts.

During the group phase teams are still allowed to add new members to the roster, but when the knockouts starts the team roster will be locked. Please read the rules for more information.

SCQ T5 Season 1 League

We have 15 teams registered to the league. Unfortunately only iQAL, RuN and LaW has played the required minimum 3 ladder matches. Since the league would be quite short with only three teams we are letting all the teams in who has at least one Ladder match done. We are also negotiating with the leaders of the teams who has not played any Ladder matches for a way for them to prove their eligibility. The target is to get as many teams in as possible.

Please be patient, your fixtures will be published by Thursday next week. It will be done as soon as we have finalised the attending teams.

We are trying to get the league started next weekend (6th March). Please refer to league rules regarding arranging the match and suggested time. Get your team ready to play next weekend!

SCQ T8 Season 2 League

We have 9 teams registered into league, but none of them has played any T8 Ladder matches. We will get the teams who has played in T5 Ladders in and we will negotiate with the other teams trying to confirm they are still active. That’s probably the easiest way to get T8 going by next weekend (7th March) too.

If you are a team leader of a team registered to the T8, but you are not in BCL Discord – please contact me @Jamppu_Fi#4051 on Discord to confirm your team.

Teams that I cannot confirm by 3rd March 2020 will be dropped from the League.

Rules

The rules has reached the 1.0 state. This means that we are freezing the rules for the leagues. Unless there is something seriously wrong in the rules we will not touch the rules until the league group phase is done.

As final change to the rules we added a few lines into server settings regarding the server responsibility and correct server settings.

The Home team (the team mentioned first in the fixture) is responsible of arranging the server – unless teams together agree otherwise. The opposing team is responsible of checking the server settings before the match. The match can’t be disputed for incorrect server settings after it has been played.

During the league phase there has been couple of changes in the rules. All announced in the BCL Discord the  but you should read the rules one more time before the leagues start, just to be on the safe side!

BCL NEWS W06/20

First Week of new Season 2 Rules

The BCL SCQ Season 2 ruleset was released on last weekend. Before the first leagues starting later on in Feb the rules are in test mode and before the first league start we will publish the 1.0 version. Until then we might adjust the rules based on community feedback or common sense.

After the first week a few minor changes has been implemented

  • Dynamite is banned on T5
  • AT Mine is banned on T5
  • Fine tuned penalties Rooftop violation (on Marita) -25 tickets per kill
  • Fine tuned penalties Fortification violation (on Operation Underground) Forfeit

The dynamite and AT-mine on T5 makes sense since these should primarily be anti vehicle assets. In T5 all vehicles are banned, so no need to harass infantry with explosives traps. The penalties for rooftops and fortifications were just missing from the rules.

If you have feedback or suggestions regarding the rules you can always comment the rules on BCL Discord Server. We will consider all legit suggestions and raise that as a topic in the scq-council.

Decider Map is rotating

We are testing this season a rotating decider map system. Each week we randomly pick one map from the map pool as the decider. This map is published on BCL Discord server on the #announcements channel. The weekly map can also be found from this BCL News site from the + link on the upper right corner of this site.

Matches

Ladders are running

The BCL Ladder matches has been going on for a while now. It looks like the most active ladder is the EU PS4 T5 with 8 teams attending. LaW seems to be the most active team challenging teams left and right. They have played already two matches – won both – and even thou they are already on #1 position they are challenging other teams. RuN seems to be next in line for LaW

Other ladders in EU and NA are still waiting for more teams to attend.

Please remember that in BCL teams have to have 3 ladder games done for eligibility to attend the League. The league positioning is used for divisions too if there are enough teams to have separate division. Playing ladder matches for positions is also fun 😉

Leagues starting on Feb

In BCL we have separate leagues different platforms (PS4/XB1/PC) and geographical entities (EU/NA).

T8 SCQ begins 28th February.
T5 SCQ begins 29th February.

The suggested weekday for T8 is Fri and T5 Sat. It’s the suggested day. Teams can always agree another day if the suggested one is difficult to arrange.

From the Rules

Each match is scheduled for suggested date & time. Match can be played on scheduled time or teams can agree a different time. The match can be played early or maximum seven days after the suggested time. Contact between leaders in all league fixtures must be made a minimum of 48 hour prior to time of fixture. This must be via BCL website match chat to ensure messages are monitored for fairness and clarity.

We will only start the leagues with enough registered teams. A leader can register for league on BCL website League pages. Just select “League” and your platform to see open leagues. The team in the league must have minimum of 3 ladder matches to be eligible to attend.  We can start other leagues as we get teams registered on later times.

If you don’t see enough teams in your ladder/league please feel free to promote the league to other teams to get the league going.

Season 2 SCQ Rules are out

The second BFV Squad Conquest season in BCL is about to start and we have concluded new rules for the new season.

I would like to thank the scq-council for helping us to make good and equal rules for our upcoming season.

You can access the rules via permalink: http://battlefieldcommunityleague.com/news/rules/bfv/scq-season-2-rules/

There were couple of tricky things causing some discussion. The last things to solve where those difficult to proof 3x Scopes and “Rapid-fire Thompson” = M1928A1 with the Light Bolt Specialisation. We ended up banning the Thompson gun entirely and trying how it will go with the 3x banning. If during the preseason or after the group phase we feel like this – or any other – decision needs revisiting we just might do that.

Please read the rules thoroughly and adopt the way BCL is supposed to be played.  You are free to give feedback to the rules and we might change the rules before the leagues or between the phases (group/knockout/finals) if we see fit. We will announce all the rule changes in the #announcements channel on BCL Discord and on this news site.

Thank you all who participated on this journey and have some great matches in BCL!

Whats coming to Battlefield V in 2019

The Battlefield V is by no means a perfect game – far from it. It’s not particularly old game, but there has been so much hassle around it, that it really feels like we have had BFV for ages!

It’s still difficult to understand what happened on the release of the Battlefield V. After the game was out Dice withdrew themselves totally into their shell and it felt like they didn’t listen at all what we – the players – really wanted from the game. They just blindly pushed what they felt was right and ignored everything else. Now half a year later Dice finally brings in lot’s of the missing content – the content players would have liked to see in the game ages ago.

On march 2019 Dice made a strong commitment by publishing the roadmap for the rest of the year. It was great news, but one issue Dice has had for a long time is the communications strategy. There has been couple of versions of the roadmap and more detailed information is scattered around different media and to be honest, its sometimes impossible to follow, what is really happening!

We at BCL want to help. Here is a recap of the 2019 roadmap and some background info of the different steps.

BCL Weekly W23/19

Week 22 of 2019

I am back once again with a round up of what’s been happening in the BCL  Once again it’s been a very busy week that saw week 1 fixtures of the PS4 EU league division fixtures and a few new additions to the BCL

New North American Admin

We at the BCL are proud to announce that LivinStrange has joined both the website, discord admin and stream team. He has jumped straight into the role with much passion & enthusiasm already proving to be active, helpful with a good knowledge of the game and of teams in the scene. He has already been working hard to assist all in the discord channel including discord users. He has also proven level headed and concise with in admin chat discussions. He will be around at the times our North American friends are which will aid in the response time to the guys and girls across the pond. We at the BCL thank him for his time and commitment.

North American Ladder

We are pleased to announce we have opened the North American PS4 Squad CQ Ladder! Please get registered and let’s get going! We will monitor the demand for PC and XBOX for NA side, if demand is high enough, we will open these ladders also! If enough teams enroll in the ladder, we may open an North American League! It’s all up to you guys, show the participation and we will make it happen!

Match Streaming & Shout casting.

We now have a team of 6 shout casters assembled ready to stream as many games as we possibly can. These are currently all English speaking one of which is North american. We are still looking for more and would like to include non English speaking shout casters.

Saturday saw our first of many BFV games shout cast by LivinStrange which currently has 133 views on You tube. This was a PS4 EU T8 SCQ ladder match between LaW and xGRx.

SCQ

Rules

Rules version 1.4.

  • Banned tank specialisation: Flare Launcher
  • Banned V1/JB-2 Rocket
  • Banned the Half Track vehicle (car in Rotterdam)
  • Simplified the team wait time rule

Rules version 1.5.

New section added: 2.2 Playing League Matches, to clarify how the fixtures work and how the matches are supposed to be agreed.

Contact between leaders in all league fixtures must be made a minimum of 48 hour prior to time of fixture. This must be via BCL website match chat to ensure messages are monitored for fairness and clarity. Messages from x,y & z platforms which can be easily fabricated and used out of context will not be accepted.

Penalties explained

As the rules state rule breaks must be disputed through the dispute option in the fixture result on site with in 7 days of the result. An explanation of the violation must be given along with supporting evidence attached to the dispute,  any video footage should be either edited down or times of violations stated in the dispute. The penalty is applied to the round the violation occurred, but not both rounds on map committed. If both teams violate rules then admin will  look to see which is more in number or sever and could deem the round a draw. The following is how they’re implemented:

If a violation was proven beyond reasonable doubt the team breaking the rules will be punished for minimum of 50 tickets for the round rules were violated. In case of serious and continuous rule breaking even after the team is notified about the violation the admins can rule even larger penalties.

Evidence of violations result in the disputing team being awarded either:
A) 30 tickets more than the winner if disputing team lost that round.
B) 30 tickets added to their total if disputing team won that round.

As the league begins to pick up, violations and penalties are being looked at and assessed. League Admins reserve the right to change these as needed.

BCL NEWS W22/19

Week 22 of 2019 PS4  SCQ T8 League’s are live

Yes it’s Monday once again and that means we’re back with all the latest BCL news. It’s been a busy week as Thursday saw the PS4 SCQ T8 league Registration close along with the final day of qualification. We are sorry to all the teams who missed out however the ladder remains live as a scrim finding, matching tool with rankings. Teams are welcome to join this at any time. Teams who have qualified can choose to either remain on there or leave, it’s entirely up to them.  Ladder rank will be what decides your qualification for season two. Teams will need to join again to qualify for this.

PC and Xbox T8 SCQ ladders are live and when we have enough active teams enjoying these features we will open up League registration for these platforms.

SCQ

Rules

Rules has been updated to version 1.3. Summary of updates

  • Banned the new Boys AT Riffle
  • Banned the VGO MMG (missed from previous rules)
  • Added section to playing the game, about wait times:
Both teams should be in queue to the commonly agreed server well before the agreed time, but latest 15 minutes past the agreed time. If after 15 minutes team fails to fill the queue and new randoms are still joining the server, it can be called a forfeit.
  • We advise all leaders to use the match chat in league and challenge ladder fixtures when organizing their games. We look in here when looking for evidence for disputes and overdue fixtures. Of course leaders may still contact each other on other platforms however we may not accept chat sent to us from other platforms as this can be sent out of context. Be sure to protect yourself and your team. When checking an overdue fixture if we see one team has attempted contact in the match chat and the other has not we will rule in favor of the team messaging in there. This is important to take on board, many teams in BF1 simple didn’t bother to use this. If you don’t even check let alone use this feature you could find fixtures ruled against you. Help us help you protect your team and players. The match chat feature is there not only aid leaders agree match details, but also to aid us to ensure there is fair play and teams are actively engaging in fixtures.
  • When a team request rescheduling league fixtures we ask all teams to work with them on this. We do not wish to see teams simply being stubborn in order to get an easy forfeit win. I am sure we would much prefer to play. Of course if it’s short notice or if you simply can not attend at the requested time then it can not be done however should we see teams flat out refusing to negotiate we will rule against them

BCL NEWS W21/19

WEEK 21 OF 2019 LAST WEEK OF QUALIFYING ON PS4 LADDER

Here we are once again with the latest news on what’s going on in the BCL. It’s been a busy week for us here and we have much to tell you about.

NEW BCL TEAM MEMBER

First and foremost we have a new member of our Discord and Site admin team. We are very happy to welcome SnP_Pelka into our team. Pelka as been largely responsible for the influx of Polish teams within the BCL community. He has been playing within the BCL since BF4 starting out in Task Force 77 [TF77] and as been playing competitive games with us ever since. He has a real passion for Battlefield which shines through. Not only does he put in a massive effort running the SnP cup compositions but has also gone to great lengths translating BCL rules and information. He has  also encouraged other Polish teams within the Battlefield competitive scene to join the BCL.

SnP_Pelka we thank and Salute you.

NEW DISCORD CHANNELS

To accommodate the Polish invasion we have set up a new Europe section in the BCL discord that now has two new channels with a new role Pl with permissions for these channels.

  • Poland – This is for Polish speaking registered players to chat and in the polish language and letters. hopefully this will aid the many polish become more involved and find things a little easier.
  • Ogloszenia – This is an Announcements channel so our Polish friends will find it a littler easier to keep informed.

We are also aware there are teams of other non English speaking nations within the BCL we will be also looking for admin from other languages to aid with the teams sharing their first language.

BCL SERVER TAKE OVER

Sunday the 26th saw our first community event of BFV. Thank you to all those who put in an appearance hope you had fun. We saw many of the xGRx guys we had about 12 EAD over the evening and saw MaD, OPT1 and Pelka in there over the evening. We will be running more of these types of things over the course of BFV which will be moved onto private servers when they arrive after the summer. Please share with us any ideas of fun community events we can put on. Now lets see that footage of people killing Al_Sawyer for everyone to laugh at. Sorry if we have missed anyone who attended and thank you to those who informed us they wanted to come, but were unable due to other commitments.

United Gamers Clan [UgC]  0 – 2  Velocity [vL]

This week has seen a reduced number of games played on the ladder in part due to a few site issues with making challenges. These have been raised with the IT department and should hopefully be resolved soon. We were advising teams to play and update this information afterwards. It has however come to our attention that on more than one occasion these agreements between teams have since been refused to be honored by loosing teams. This is not the kind of unsporting behavior we are looking for within the BCL and find this disappointing. Therefore we have now changed our stance on this and advise teams not to play a challenge until agreed and accepted on site.

T8 SCQ League Divisions

With only 3 more days left until the 30th we are seeing that the message is starting to finally get through to most teams with regard to qualification criteria. Be sure to make of the most of the time left to qualify and establish division positions. The Divisions will be set on Friday the 31st of May. We will allow until Sunday the 2nd of June for teams to request a swap of division with another team. We are only doing this for this first season as the whole ladder system of qualifying is still new and needs time to settle. This will not be an option for any future seasons. The Fixtures will then be Generated and live on site on Monday the 3rd of June.

Fixtures as in previous battlefield games will be suggested times and dates with teams having 7 days from the date and time suggested to honor these fixtures. As before Admin will make a decision on any fixtures not posted within this 7 day period by looking for the most active and reasonable team within the fixture chat on site.

Streamers

In BF1 we had many games live streamed with commentary. This is something we are looking to do once again. At present we have a small team of 4 confirmed streamers. We would like to take this opportunity to ask for anybody interested in becoming a member of the in house BCL stream team or anyone wanting to commentate and stream via their own channels to come forward. At present the latest update to BFv appears to have broken spectator mode, but when this resolved you can expect to find many matches lived streamed.

Until next time see you on the Battlefield.

BCL NEWS W20/19

WEEK 20 OF 2019 THE SECOND WEEK OF THE NEW LADDER

BCL news here again to keep you up dated on what’s new with the coming and going’s of all things BCL. “What’s been happening?” I hear you ask. Ok so maybe not, however with new 2.0 version of the site, new ladders, new systems and a not quite so new version of our favorite FPS Battlefield V things can get a little confusing. We will be here to help guide you through keeping you informed.

Older user’s of our Discord server may have noticed lot’s of empty spaces in the team leaders contacts list. All contacts were removed as many teams have changed since the BF1 and to make things simpler for everyone, including our master of verification and permission on Discord the one and only jtniteuk this has been emptied. Leaders are being added by our very helpful and vigilant friend as they come forward. While we are speaking of Discord we have had several enquirers as how to gain more or full access of the various channels. This information is on the welcome & rules channel in there, but we will repeat this here for our avid and not so avid readers. Upon joining discord you will find a channel named Registration. If you pop in that channel posting a little something asking to be given registered BCL player or leader role the previously mention jt will be more than happy to verify you are indeed registered and will be more than happy to grant these permissions.

Discord is also the place where team representatives vote on rules. Although the initial rule vote survey has been done BFv is a dynamic game with regular updates and additions. Due to this there is a regular need for our team reps to make decisions on new weapons and gadgets added to the game. Remember folks all new weapons are considered banned until a vote has been completed on weather they are included in BCL matches or not. Of course with the upcoming 5v5 mode and private servers there will be plenty more to vote on. It’s you the community that lead us so make sure you let us know who you want as your rep. Speaking of private servers as there will be a need for another survey when these are added to the game this will be an opportune time to review how the current rules set is going and discuss weather there is a need to review the current rule set. This will be the one and only time there may be a major overhaul of the rules. If there is something that really niggles you or feel isn’t helping the competitiveness of the BCL ensure you have your voice heard by having your rep included in the council.

Rules Changes

Rules are now on version 1.2 Summary of changes

  • P08 Carbine (Scout) is banned

Updates to Playing the ladder

We are excited to announce some new updates to the ladder aimed at improving how it works. These will help with our vision for how the ladder is used.

Challenge response options.

Now when a team is challenged by a team ranked below them they have three options of response.

  1. Accept – This speaks for itself they accept the challenge on suggested time, let battle commence.
  2. Forfeit – If you don’t fancy the challenge or feel the challenging team is too OP not wanting to scare off your team members you may simply forfeit the game giving the challenger the win. Of course nobody will be using this option.
  3. Reschedule – If the time of the challenge isn’t convenient you may select this option. When doing so you will be given options of some days and times. (These have been voted on in the council) This is to avoid the challenged team simply offering a silly time and day to try avoid the challenge. The challenging team may then accept this reschedule or cancel. If the reschedule is cancelled then the challenge is cancelled to avoid things dragging on and clogging up the ladder.

When teams are challenged from above they will have accept, reschedule and cancel. The thought behind this is to avoid teams higher up simply sandbagging their position or trying to improve their win numbers with easier games.

We still ask and advise the following,

  • Don’t challenge a team with a short notice. Give enough time to your opponent to arrange the game.
  • To make the ladder smoother you should pre-agree with your potential opponent. Agree timing and make the challenge to the system after you have agreed the details with your opponent.

Congratulations & Commiserations to this weeks winners and looser’s. As this is only the second full week of the new ladder system all of the current 25 teams on there are still finding their place. It is not a grind based ladder but a skill based so teams battle to defend or win the highest position of the two teams playing. As the initial rankings before we kicked off were purely based on the order in which teams joined the current rankings are still partly due to this order teams joined. We are now beginning to see something closer to a true reflection of who are the top ten or twenty ect. Yes this still needs time to settle down, but the more games are played the more the real rankings of teams will come to light and the closer matched opponents will be.

The ladder is of course an ongoing place for teams to not only find an active team of similar skill level (these will match more closely as more teams join and games are played), but it also the qualifying route into the league division. Remember to qualify you must have played on the ladder before the 30th of May and have applied to join the league.

  • Teams who have not played and posted a result for 14 days drop one position on the ladder.
  • Teams who have not played and posted a result for 28 days are removed to ensure all teams on there are active and avoid clogging things up. (If removed for inactivity you may rejoin again when active).

League Divisions

Now we are two weeks into the ladder and qualifying for Season 1 BFV League division things are starting to shape up. Of the 20 teams applied and the 25 on the ladder we now have enough teams in qualifying positions for an 8 team division 1 and another 8 team division 2. This can all change as teams jokey for position and qualification spots between now and 30th of May. with more team making enquirers, registering their teams and teams yet to play a challenge match this could all change. We may even see a division 3 who knows.

This opening season is of course an EU PS4 league however we will be using the activeness of ladders on all platforms and modes as our gauge for where a league is needed and when one will be started. when we have enough activity on the other platforms they will see registration open for T8 SCQ leagues. If you would like to see a ladder in any game mode, region or platform opened up let us know. We are community lead and the site is compatible for many game modes and regions across BFV, BF1 and BF4. If we have the demand, enough admin willing to help out and are able to keep up will are more than happy to accommodate.

Until next week see you on the Battlefield.

BCL NEWS W19/19

On week 19 of 2019 the first ever Ladder really kicked off.

SCQ Ladder

Rule Changes

Rules has been updated to version 1.1 Change summary of 1.1. rules

  • Fjell 652 map messed up competitive matches a bit. Now we have even number of maps in the Squad Conquest. It brings couple of challenges that needed some attention. New section added to the rules “2.1 Switching the sides
  • The new Medic Bolt Action Carbines Commando Carbine and the Tromboncino M28 didn’t get much love from the community and both of the new guns were banned 1.1.4 Bolt-Action Carbines. The latest Finnish addition to the game Lahti-Saloranta M26 is added to allowed guns as is the Selbstlader 1906 what was forgotten from the initial vote.
  • The latest P08 Carbine (Recon) is still on the table. It’s not banned nor allowed for time being. If a gun is not specifically allowed, you are not allowed to use it in the comp matches.
  • Added a short “2.5 Entering the result” entry to outline how the score is recorded

Read the rules carefully and take note of the new side switching policy.

Playing the ladder

Teams has been struggling a bit with challenging other teams. The whole community is learning the new Ladder system, admins included. The initial intention was the challenges to be more serious in that sense, that once a challenge is made, it can’t be declined – except by forfeiting. It’s a challenging task and teams can’t be forced to play on short notice or on absurd times. We are driving the challenges to a direction where challenge must be accepted, but the timing is still negotiable. More about that once we have concluded something.

We are working on the site system to make the site tool better support our intentions. While we are improving the site, I would ask teams to work together for better ladder experience

  • Don’t challenge a team with a short notice. Give enough time to your opponent to arrange the game.
  • To make the ladder smoother you should pre-agree with your potential opponent. Agree timing and make the challenge to the system after you have agreed the details with your opponent.
  • If you get challenged try to react to the challenge as soon as possible. Contact the challenger if the timing does not suite you and if you can’t play nor reach the opponent decline the challenge to free up both teams for other challenges.

Matches

The Ladder start to shape up as teams are playing the matches. It’s definitely not there yet, but we are starting to see a pattern.

Teams

We have quite a lot teams attending already. Several new teams joined just the past week. We also lost another team when ParE decided to step down.

There are 23 teams fighting for their positions on the ladder! Most of the teams have not fought yet. The ladder will show some real positions in coming weeks when more matches has been fought.

SCQ League

Qualification for the league is through the ladder. Play with your team to Rank on the ladder and on the 30th of May your team will be placed in the league division. Of the current 23 teams already battling it out on the PS4 ladder, 11 of these have yet to apply to the league. If your team wish to merely use the ladder as a scrim tool this is fine and of course is one of the uses for the ladder, however if your team wishes to compete in league division you will also need to apply for the league. The teams on the ladder are not automatically in the league. Without the clarification by applying your team could miss out.

Format

The League format will comprise of divisions of 8 teams. This means that the highest ranked teams on the the ladder on the 30th of May who have applied to the league will make up the 1st division. The next 8 will qualify for the 2nd division , as we move forward with more teams joining we will add more divisions where needed. These 8 team will be divided into two groups of 4. The teams in the groups will play each other once, giving them 3 matches to play in the group phase of the division.  The teams finishing in the first two places will qualify for the knockout phase of the league.  This gives us two semifinals with the winners of these going through to the final playing to become division 1 season 1 Champions.

BCL NEWS W18/19

The return of the Squad Conquest has made is possible to play Clan matches again. With that BCL is back on  competitive Battlefield.

SCQ Ladder

Squad Conquest ladder has started on BCL website. Ladder is available on three main platforms: PS4, XB1 and PC. We have 17 teams already on PS4 ladder and the first team just joined the PC ladder.

First teams tried to play on the weekend, but of course EA decided differently and the servers were down. There is still no matches on the ladder! But hoping this will soon change!

We have removed one team from the ladder Danger Zones. The team members didn’t seem like legit players and we have had no contact with the team leader. In Ladder it’s important we have only active teams this team was removed.
